Raposeira

Raposeira is a peaceful small village nearby Vila do Bispo, on the western side of the Algarve region.

This is a region of ancient human occupany, with several pre-historic vestiges like the Aspradantes Menhir or the set of Menhirs of Milrei and Padrão.

Due to the proximity with Sagres, in Raposeira lived Henry the Navigator, the most famous for the voyages of discovery that he organised and financed, which eventually led to the rounding of Africa and the establishment of sea routes to the Indies.

This simple and pleasant village presents a modest Mother Church in Manueline style dated from the 16th century.
